ABOUT Children of the Immaculate Heart's Emergency Services was established in 2023 as a mobile clinic to provide survivors of sex trafficking with essential and emergency resources. Our Emergency Services team will meet these women in their area to minimize barriers when seeking help by creating a safe space. An initial needs assessment is completed to determine how to best support these women. They then have the opportunity to transition to our long-term service program, St. Bakhita's, where they'll receive case management, faith-based counseling and equine therapy, financial management coaching, financial assistance, and housing navigation support to name a few.
HOUSING - THE BIG ISSUE Finding permanent housing is the biggest challenge these women face as many of them are unhoused. Upon initial contact, our first priority is assisting them in finding housing, even if it's temporary, and to increase their income.
FUTURE DROP-IN CENTER CIH is currently searching for a Drop-in Center location in downtown San Diego. The purpose of a Drop-In Center is to offer support, services, and case management and be a point of contact for these women to work towards independence and self-sufficiency.
