ENDOW
ENDOW stands for Educating of the Nature and Dignity Of Women. Children of the Immaculate Heart highly recommends their study series’ to help women understand the source and nature of their true dignity. Groups usually begin with a study of Bl. John Paul II’s “Letter to Women”, although his apostolic letter Mulieris Dignitatem, On the Dignity and Vocation of Women, is a true gem. There are, in any case, a wide array of studies to choose from: http://www.endowgroups.org |
Angelic Warfare Confraternity
In the battle for chastity in our society, the most important thing we can do is begin with ourselves. Chastity is a virtue that needs to be cultivated and fought for and is easier to obtain together than on one’s own. The Angelic Warfare Confraternity is a Public Association of the Lay Faithful and is an apostolate of the Dominican Friars. It was founded out of a devotion to St. Thomas Aquinas and the wearing of a St. Thomas cord as a means of obtaining grace to grow in chastity. This is an excellent resource for people of any state of life: http://www.angelicwarfareconfraternity.org. |
The Polaris Project
The Polaris Project is one of the biggest national anti-trafficking initiatives in the United States. They provide everything from client services in Washington D.C. and New Jersey, to policy advocacy at the national level, to anti-trafficking training sessions. But perhaps the most far-reaching work of the Polaris Project is their National Human Trafficking Hotline. It is a 24-hour hotline that connects trafficking victims and community members with professionals and service providers who can assist them in getting out of their situation. Their number is always a good one to have on hand in case you ever see anything that looks suspiciously like slavery: 1-888-373-7888. You can also text INFO or HELP to BeFree (233733). |
The Bilateral Safety Corridor Coalition (BSCC)
The BSCC is a local San Diego-based coalition of over 60 government and non-profit agencies in the United States and Latin America that works to combat slavery with a focus on the U.S. Mexico border region. This is a key area, as the CIA has estimated that there are between 45,000 and 50,000 people trafficked into the United States every year. Many of them are coming through the Tijuana border area. The BSCC also provides a great gift to the abolitionist movement of San Diego by providing a San Diego-specific hotline number. If you are in San Diego, this is another good number to save into your phone. It is (619) 666-2757. |
USCCB Anti-Trafficking Initiative
