A Giving Tuesday update from the Adult Program Manager Jenna Christakis. 11/30/22 Update: Thanks to our gracious supporters we met our Matching Grant goal! Thank you all very much, may the Lord richly reward you in this life and the next!
Dear friends in Christ, Children of the Immaculate Heart celebrated its 9th anniversary this year. It seems as though it was just yesterday that we were working out of the guest bedroom of our foundress’ two-bedroom apartment. The growth that our apostolate has experienced and the impact we have had on the clients we serve is immense. However, we are not done yet. Although our growth has been vast, we have many more goals we hope to accomplish in the years to come. Now, we have a capital campaign to pay off the mortgage of the home we call “The Refuge” which houses teenage victims of sex trafficking from the foster care system. Once this is paid off, we plan to open another home for minor girls as well as purchase an apartment complex for St. Bakhita’s Program for adult women with children coming out of this life. Accomplishing these goals would allow us to care for double the amount of survivors we currently support in both programs. It would also help us provide stable and definite housing for those we serve. In St. Bakhita’s Program, we run into many roadblocks with housing for our clients – from poor credit scores to low income to sparse employment histories, landlords often do not want to rent to our clients. If we were to own our own apartment complex, we would have the ability to offer all our clients a home regardless of their credit score, income, employment status or history. Please Support CIH’s Clients by Donating on Giving Tuesday (11/29) to help us reach more of our development goals and better serve survivors of human trafficking! We have a $25,000 grant that ends Giving Tuesday – please donate today so we can use these much-needed funds to provide essential services to these women and girls in need. We are dependent on the generosity of others and are continuously edified by the support we receive from our brothers and sisters in Christ! God Bless You All! Children of the Immaculate Heart(CIH) was founded to serve those who are vulnerable due to sex trafficking. It seeks to reach out to women and children directly in the trafficking industry as well as those made vulnerable in trafficking-dependent industries. Archives
